Can injured employees return to work successfully? The answer is yes, done right return to work programs benefit the employee and the employer. The reality for stakeholders, everyone is not sold on this argument, employers are balancing the economic benefits of transitional duty programs against the argument that these programs are ineffective. There are those who question why we need a “special” program to help injured employees return to work. The challenge, how do we continue to champion the return to work cause?

To change the paradigm and maintain our singular focus we must also be willing to answer three fundamental questions:

  • Does the employees’ value proposition change after they have an injury?
  • Can we see the employees’ ability to do the job or are we stuck on the list of inabilities assigned by their doctor?
